Day 1
July 4, 2022
Finally, after two years of waiting we could welcome friends from around the globe to our summer camp: shochu-geiko.
Ulf Evenås-Sensei focused on hanmi and awaze when he explained ken, jo and tai-jutsu.
Day 2
July 5, 2022
Saito Sensei described iriminage, kokyunage and kinonagare as the essence of aikido.
Aikido starts with the position hanmi and the most important technique is shihonage, even though it is rather useless when it comes to actual fighting.
These were some of the aspects we studied during day two of the summer camp.
Ulf Evenås, shihan, taught variations of the first kumitachi as well as the 31-kata kumijo. In taijutsu we practiced nikkyo, sankyo, iriminage, kotegaeshi, shihonage and kokyunage.
Day 3.
July 6, 2022
The weather was finally splendid and we could practice outside as bukiwaza was taught by Saito-Sensei in Iwama.
With ken we studied the second and third kumitachi as taught by o-sensei and some variations.
The jo practice consisted of 13-kata and it’s awaze form.
Yokomen was the focus in tai-jutsu.
Day 4
July 7, 2022
First came the sword, then the unarmed techniques and last the staff.
The founder developed aikido from ken (sword) and integrated tai-jutsu (unarmed techniques) and finalised it with jo (staff).
The relation between the three parts was the focus in todays classes at the summer camp.
