80 aikidoka from 10 countries attended the seminar with Paolo Corallini shihan, Ulf Evenås shihan, and Stanley Pranin sensei at Frölunda Judo Club in Gothenburg, 9–10 April. During Saturday evening Stanley Pranin, editor-in-chief of Aikido Journal, gave a lecture about his decades of research of aikido history.
The three teachers are all long time students of the late Morihiro Saito, 9 dan, in Iwama. They all shared their fond memories of their common teacher.
Stanley Pranins research has caused some controversy within the aikido community. His deep knowledge and tireless efforts to gather historical facts about the founder of aikido has given him great respect even outside the aikido world. Shingo Ohgami, a well known karate teacher from Wado-ryu and a highly esteemed authority in budo history, attended the lecture.
